10:00 am 11:00 am, Latin Dance Class for children 8-10 years of age in our 5th Floor Gym, taught by Jocelyn Duran. Mambo, Cha Cha, Salsa and Merengue are just some of the dances that will be taught in this class.
11:00 am 12:00 noon, Afro-Caribbean Dance for children 6-8 years old in Studio 623, taught by Alma Cruz. Accompanied by live drummers, youngsters learn the dances of the African Diaspora in the Caribbean exploring the dynamics of movement and style.

Catarina dos Santos presents a beautiful and interactive performance featuring Afro-Brazilian music and culture, from de Afoxé, Ijexá and Samba de Roda rhythms and dances from Bahía , Côco de Roda and Maracatu de Baque Virado. Joining her will be two great percussionists, Zé Maurício (Choro Ensemble, Cyro Batista) and Eduardo Guedes (Nation Beat, Maracatu NY). Come and join the dance!

Composition: The Creative Process A Conversation featuring Composers Gustavo Casenave, Pablo Mayor, Francisco Rodriguez & guest composer Rafael Landestoy
In this informal dialogue, these gifted artists, all of whom were born in Latin America before coming to New York City, will share their sources of inspiration, their musical influences, and their individual creative process. This event is a part of Composers Now, a festival celebrating the music of our time at venues throughout the city Feb 2228.
The Composers Now Festival was born to put a public face on the vitality, diversity, and innovations that composers bring to our communities. The festival begins on Monday, February 22nd at Symphony Space at 10:00 am with a Mayoral Proclamation of Composers Now Day, followed by a panel discussion moderated by festival organizers Laura Kaminsky and Tania León with guest composers. The Charlie Palmieri Memorial Piano Scholarship is awarded to intermediate and advanced pianists ages 12-25 for the study of Latin style piano.
Applicants must demonstrate their talents in Classical and/or Popular Latin styles. The winner will receive one year's training free of charge at Harbor Conservatory with one of our specialists in the field of Latin piano For applications and guidelines and to schedule an audition, call (212) 427-2244 Ext. 557.
